Broomfield 9/11 Commemorative Ceremony
On Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011 at 11 a.m. there will be a community gathering at the Broomfield Amphitheatre, 3 Community Park Road, and later across the pond at the Broomfield 9/11 Memorial, to remember the civilians and first responders who died 10 years ago in the East Coast terrorism attacks.
New York Fire Department Retired Battalion Chief Jack McDonnell will speak about the tragedy that day, and remember the brave first responders who gave their lives to help save the victims. Coloradan Michael Faughnan, who lost a brother that day in New York City, will also speak.
The North Metro Fire Rescue District and Broomfield Police honor guards will be at the event and lead the procession from the amphitheater over to the memorial. There will also be a bugler and bagpipers at the event.
A mini Healing Field will be set up with more than 3,000 small flags lining the walkway to the memorial.
After the ceremony, all attendees can take their time at 9/11 Memorial. A quintet from the Denver Municipal Band will perform from noon to 1 p.m. Their free concert will include a variety of patriotic selections for the crowd to enjoy.
