Butterfly Pavilion's Living Lights
Butterfly Pavilion introduces Living Lights, one of Colorado’s newest holiday lights events, immersing guests into an enchanted, indoor festival of lights. This entertaining, and educational evening is filled with biofluorescent invertebrates including scorpions, glowing exhibits, a magical Firefly Forest with mesmerizing aerial artists and captivating performers culminating in an electrifying kid’s glow-in-the-dark dance party and unveiling of the Firefly Princess. Butterfly Pavilion will light up in a rainbow of colors as visitors walk among exhibits and see the world of invertebrates in a new, enchanting way. While a celebration for the holidays, Living Lights also sheds light on the importance of invertebrates through heightened awareness and exposure within a fun setting. Guests will learn more about how invertebrates are the foundational animal species within all ecosystems on our planet and upon which all life relies. Discover current conservation efforts Butterfly Pavilion is leading such as work to breed fireflies in Colorado under human care and its other invertebrate research underway around the world from Mongolia and Saudi Arabia to Peru and Indonesia. Butterfly Pavilion has been part of the Colorado community since 1995 and is the first Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA)-accredited, stand-alone, non-profit invertebrate zoo in the world. Beyond Colorado and the United States, Butterfly Pavilion conservationists are doing important invertebrate research projects around the world from Mongolia and Saudi Arabia to Peru and Indonesia. Closer to home, a new Butterfly Pavilion Baseline development will open in Broomfield, Colorado in 2025 setting the global standard for invertebrate science and conservation. The $55M, 81,000-square-foot facility will include greatly expanded guest experiences, world-class research labs and a much larger zoological facility. Butterfly Pavilion has been part of the Colorado community since 1995 and is the first Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA)-accredited, stand-alone, non-profit invertebrate zoo in the world.
